Summer holidays are approaching and the kids are excited! But what does this mean for you? How are WE going to keep the children entertained and enjoy real life without breaking the bank? Would you like to keep your sanity during the long holidays? If so then this is your BS free guide to get more out of the holidays. I have done some research on Pinterest, YouTube and read books to put together a collection of ideas to spark your imaginations without spending a fortune.
- Create a time capsule
Time capsules are a cool idea. You can put a list of your child’s dreams or goals or write down some fun family memories using plastic bottles or an old jar.
- Film a music video
Isaiah loves dancing so I know he will definitely love it!
- Find Pen pal
They may not see their school friends as much over the summer, this is a fantastic way to keep in touch!
- Board games night
Have some snacks, and switch off gadgets and spend some quality time together as a family
- Set up a book club
School’s out but learning shouldn’t stop. Make it fun with friends and snacks
Bit of an obvious one but why not get some shells and stones that you can use for Arts and crafts later?
If you live in the UK, some parts of London are offering free swim sessions, otherwise is an affordable sport for the kids to keep cool.
Don’t limit yourself to your local park, the internet is your oyster, research and visit parks/playgrounds in other areas.
- Play rounders
Equipments are cheap and such a fun game to play together as a family.
- Fun Fairs
Very common although can be quiet costly. However, many fairs now hold deals and it is also a nice family day out.
Arts and Crafts
- Create a slogan t-shirt using a fabric pen
- Create a robot costume out of old card boxes and make a movie. This should take hours and keep your rug rats entertained for hours.
- Customise canvas plimsollsPrimark sells very affordable pairs
- Bake cookies or cupcakes and give them away as random acts of kindness.
- Tie-dye T-shirt
I hope these activities have given you ideas to have fun with your kids without leaving a hole in your pocket. I know this will keep me and mine occupied this summer. Enjoy!
